B-05
This handwoven textile is crafted using the Tsuzureori weaving technique. Drawing inspiration from tree roots, this piece explores and pushes the boundaries of textures in weaving. Conventional Tsuzureori textiles are woven from the bottom up; however, for this piece, the warp threads are rotated by 90 degrees, and woven from the side. Threads of varying thicknesses and materials are twisted together and woven as weft threads, and even thicker threads are used to represent the mighty, thick tree roots. The loose ends of the weft thread, which protrude during thread change, are allowed to float to represent finer roots.
