This handwoven textile is crafted using the Tsuzureori weaving technique. A flat base surface is created with weft threads consisting of twisting five to six threads together and woven in a fine weave pattern. To add a variant in texture, twisted threads of varying thicknesses and materials are incorporated using a coarse or derivative weave. In addition, to add luster, black Hakuito, a thread made from shredded Washi paper coated with gold leaf and lacquer, is incorporated. This combination evokes an image of the moonlight reflecting on the sea.
