This handwoven textile is crafted using the Tsuzureori weaving technique. It uses a slit method in which the weft threads are turned back midway, instead of passing all the way through from one side to another, thus creating gaps in the weave. In this piece, the warp threads are divided into bundles to create blocks. Each block is then woven independently by returning the weft around the last warp in the block, thus creating strips of woven fabric. These strips are then loosened, repositioned, and secured in various places to create a single piece of textile. Additionally, this piece incorporates black Hakuito, a thread made from finely cut Washi paper embellished with materials such as lacquer, gold, or silver. This combination evokes an image of a splashing waterfall.
