This textile showcases the renowned Nishijinori weaving technique known as Hikihaku, which uses weft threads that are made by finely cutting the Haku into threads. Haku is Washi paper embellished with materials such as lacquer, gold, or silver. This piece features a raised lacquer finish achieved by applying black lacquer dots depicting an arabesque motif on the black, subtly patterned woven base. Due to the irregularities of this textured surface, the delicate floral design only emerges from the fabric, depending on the angle of view.
