“Mon-birodo (patterned velvet)” is a textile in which the pattern is expressed by velvet and pile. The pattern is expressed with velvet and pile on silk satin fabric. During the weaving process, the wire is woven in at the same time as the weft yarn, and the pile is created by removing the wire after weaving is completed. In this work, the wire is woven in two layers to create two different pile heights, enriching the expression. This is a high quality fabric that is an evolution of velvet, the highest level of silk fabrics.
