This textile is woven using silk and horsehair. Horsehair, known for its resilience and used in violin bows, is also used in various fabrics for its natural sheen and translucency. While the warp threads in this piece are mainly silk, the tough horsehair is randomly incorporated along with the silk, thus creating the appearance of gaps between the weft threads when woven. The ensuing distinctive luster and translucency characterize this fabric.
