This textile is crafted using a Nishijinori weaving technique known as Donsu, creating a silk-like texture called Shusu. It features the classic Japanese blue sea and waves pattern, Seigaiha. Shusu weaves are renowned for their luxurious luster of silk. The weave is achieved by creating fewer intersections than usual between the warp and weft threads, and increasing the number of warp threads. Noteworthy for its extravagant appearance, it is referred to as silk satin in Western contexts.
