This thin mesh-like fabric, called Ra, is woven using the Mojiriori twisted weaving technique, also known as Leno. Resembling knitted fabric in appearance, it uses a combination of large and fine twists to depict a pattern. Although woven since ancient times, this textile has become rare in modern days. This piece features a repeated diamond-shaped geometric motif and pushes the boundaries of weaving to pursue the finest intricacy. This results in an exceptionally thin finish, which is reminiscent of the Seminohane [the wings of the cicada].
