琳派 神坂雪佳作「百花」 インスタレーション
川島織物セルコンが、織物の未来と100年後の当社を考える活動のひとつとして、イタリア ミラノで開催される世界最大規模のデザインの祭典『ミラノデザインウィーク』に2019年に初出展、伝統技術と先端技術を併せ持つ当社の誇る様々な手法で作り上げた織物を、インスタレーションで表現しました。
展示の題材には、琳派の画家・工芸デザイナーの神坂雪佳が、川島織物セルコンのためにデザイン制作した「百花」を採用。アートディレクションには、ジャパンクリエイティブの代表理事でグラフィックデザイナーの廣村正彰氏を招聘。精緻なクラフトマンシップと最新技術の織りなす和により、甘美かつ優雅な空間構成となりました。

Kyoto’s Nishijin brocade Kawashima Selkon Textiles In Milano Design Week 2019, show the variety of textiles in traditional and innovative technique.
As a part of our activities aimed at considering the future of woven textiles and Kawashima Selkon Textiles in the next century, our company is exhibiting for the first time at Milan Design Week, the world’s largest design festival held in Milan, Italy. For this event, we will be presenting woven textiles in the form of an installation, created through a variety of traditional and advanced techniques that our company takes pride in.
For the theme of the display, we selected Hyakka (a hundred flowers), designed and produced for Kawashima Selkon Textiles by Kamisaka Sekka, the Rimpa school artist and craft designer who has attracted many fans not only in Japan but also abroad. Masaaki Hiromura, graphic designer and Representative Director of Japan Creative, is in charge of artistic direction. The harmony achieved through the interweaving of the latest technology with the delicate craftsmanship of the textile art that Japan takes pride in, has resulted in a sweet and elegant spatial composition.
